White Spot (somewhere in Kits)

During the holidays, everything sort of slows down a bit, but I still wanted to go to class and practice (iaido).  I went one Saturday morning, and my buddy Ron was there, standing outside in the freezing rain.....the SRC (Student Rec Centre, UBC) was closed.  Frig.  So we decided to leave and grab a bite to eat instead.  We dediced on White Spot and the nearest one was in Kitsilano.

I decided to get something hearty and ordered whatever came with the most food.  I think it was called Nat's Hearty Breakfast or something.

Ron ordered some sort of omlette.

Mine came with something I had never heard of - Smashed Potatoes.  Basically, I think it was a par-boiled potato that's pan fried (or possiblly deep-fried, haha!).  Anyway, it was slightly greasy, but that's what makes this sort of food taste good right?  Anyway, it was pretty good, but I needed to season it a bit.

Eggs, pancakes and sausages were a few of the other items that came with my meal.  I was quite satisfied by the end of my breakfast, and I was quite content.  The service was friendly and I'd probably go back if I was in the area.

White Spot - Kelowna

On May long weekend, I went with the 1st Gen Civic folks up to Kelowna for the annual car show in Peachland.  We used do to this every year, but I stopped going for a couple of years because my little red bastard crapped out on me and was off the road for a bit.  Well, my pals Justin, Jay and Lay worked their assess off to help me get Rusty back on the road and I was able to go this year!

We didn't get to eat out that often (and that was probably a good thing since I'm broke as hell), so not much to review this Kelowna trip.  On the way back, we stopped in to a Whitespot for breakfast before the long drive back home.

I don't know why I always feel compelled to have orange juice when I'm having breakfast in a restaurant.  I guess I want to give myself the illusion of having something healthy with the impending grease plate I'm about to eat.
Someone ordered a hot chocolate and it looked pretty fancy, not sure about the taste though.

I got the Nat's Hearty Breakfast with pancakes.  It tasted good enough, and pretty much on par with Denny's Grand Slam breakfast.  I think it might actually be cheaper than Denny's?  Someone correct me if I'm wrong,.  This only cost me $10.00
One of the omlette meals.  I had a taste and I didn't think it was worth the buck extra.....yeah, I didn't like it.
The Classic Eggs Benedict looked tasty, but not filling.  It looked like I could have eaten two orders of it.

Actually, it was my first time ever having breakfast at Whitespot so I really didn't know what to expect.  It was filling, but I think I could have eaten slightly more.  I had some of the omlette and it was pretty mediocre.  Stick with the real eggs.

White Spot - Richmond Centre

I've been to the White Spot in Richmond Centre only a few times, but one thing I have to say is that I get consistent good service there.  I don't usually go to White Spot, but once in a while, I get a craving for their legendary burger with the Special-O sauce, and it's always good.  I guess you could say, how can you screw up a hamburger, but actually, it can be done.

As you can tell, I took a lot of pictures of  my burger (which actually isn't the legendary), and a shot of my friends whatever-sandwich.  The fries are bottomless, but I never, ever find that I need a refill, the coleslaw is there for I don't know what.  It has no nutritional value what so ever, doesn't taste particularly good......yet I still eat it, haha!  Anyway, decent service, good food, ok prices.  The prices at White Spot have been steadily on the rise the last few years, and in part because they're trying go all high-end and trendy.  Gone are the days of the truck-stop diner prices...eventually I will stop going, but for now, it's still reasonable.
