Pho Cao Van - revisited

I went to Pho Cao Van a couple of weeks ago and I still can't figure out why this place has such a crappy rating on Urban Spoon....what is it about this place that I don't know?  Maybe I should try some other places and see what else is out there.

The bean sprouts come booked and the lime wedges are always fresh and juicy.
A generous serving if fish sauce for the spring rolls.
Okay, so these are a bit on the small side, but they taste okay to me......I'm sure there are better though.

Large #1 is what I usually get...comes with meatballs, rare steak (which you have to eat right away if you want it rare), brisket, tripe and tendon.  What I like about this place is the broth...I don't need to add any flavour or seasoning....well, except a squirt of lime and that green leafy stuff.

I've been reading some other blogs and I think I want to try Lemongrass....looks good from the pictures anyway!  The thing with Pho is that for me, it's cheap and fast.  Maybe I'm just too lazy to try some place different, haha!  But I will for sure.....one of these days =)

  1. This place.... I wanted to phone New Asia Deli to order take out for their baguettes, but somehow "pho cao van" was stuck in my mind, so I called them and ordered them... but went to New Asia instead. They ended up calling me back but I was at SFU already... hahaha!

Pho is definitely a staple food for me :)

  2. Hey Janice,

New Asia Deli? Haha, sounds like another place to add to my wishlist, any good?

I think I've only tried Viet Namese baguettes once in my life.....I don't remember if I liked it or not....
